How Yoga Can Ease Eating Disorders

Yoga can help ease eating disorder symptoms for many sufferers, which is why we’ve included it as a part of our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP).
As mentioned in an article on eatingdisordersonline.com, the goal of practicing yoga is to strengthen the body and mind, and the connection between the two.
Yoga poses and the breath-work build stamina and strength, maintain the body’s flexibility, teach mindfulness, promote balance and encourage practitioners to listen to and trust their bodies.
A research study recently published in Psychology of Women Quarterly, reveals that mind-body exercise is correlated with better body satisfaction and fewer eating disorder symptoms than cardio machine workouts or running.
