GROUP THERAPY

While we have always emphasized the enhancement value of group therapy in our treatment approach, now more than ever it has become such a meaningful form of connection for everyone. Our groups are both online or hybrid (some choosing to attend in person while others join remotely). Here is just a sampling:

  • ADULT GROUPS FOR EATING DISORDERS AND THOUGHTS (Ages 20- 60+)

These groups provides meaningful, support in a judgement-free zone, as well as alternate coping skills for adults with all forms of disordered eating. This often includes addressing trauma, the effects of diet culture, weight stigma, trying to compassionately understand some other root causes and how to achieve self-acceptance.

  • ADOLESCENT COPING SKILLS GROUPS (Ages 13-15 or Ages 16-19)

These groups provide alternate coping skills for dealing with social and friend group concerns, understanding family roles, managing and normalizing developmental shifts and changes, navigating academic pressure (both internal and external), the effects of social media, bullying, and body image issues. We use not only talk therapy, some CBT/DBT skills and the power of peer support but also creative arts therapy which is especially beneficial with these age groups.

  • ADULT GROUPS FOR BINGE EATING / EMOTIONAL EATING (Ages 20-60+)

These groups provide support and concrete strategies/skills to help overcome Binge/Emotional and/or Compulsive Overeating and develop body acceptance. This often includes addressing trauma, the effects of diet culture, weight stigma, trying to compassionately understand root causes and how to achieve self-acceptance. We promote a weight neutral, HAES© approach.
